Francis Davies (1885-1952) served as a Carpenter and Shipwright on the Terra Nova as a member of Robert Falcon Scott’s British Antarctic Expedition (1910–13). While most accounts are by the ship’s officers, Davies was an ordinary seaman thus making his account of this expedition a rare viewpoint from the lower ranks.
This special limited, numbered edition is signed by Davies great niece Joy Watts and publisher Nick Reardon. This is in the same large-format as Reardon’s other Antarctic publications: The Antarctic Journals of Reginald Skelton, Edward Wilson’s Antarctic Notebooks, Edward Wilson’s Nature Notebooks, and Nimrod Illustrated.
