Offered here is an offprint of Captain Scott’s May 27, 1910 lecture to the Royal Institution of Great Britain presented prior to the Terra Nova’s June 1st departure on the ill-fated British Antarctic Expedition (1910-13). In it he lays out the plans for the expedition – sailing south, arrival at McMurdo, the Western and Eastern parties, the southern journey, the primary men of the expedition, and the scientific work to be undertaken. The original of this offprint is very scarce with no entries in polar bibliographies. One copy was sold at auction in 2018 for $5,500 and one is at the John Hay Library, Brown University. Produced as a special keepsake for the SouthPole-sium v.4 held in Ireland in 2019.
