Wiiks (1878-1906) served as Second Engineer on Roald Amundsen’s Northwest Passage expedition, aboard the 45-ton fishing vessel Gjøa. He was the youngest member of the expedition and worked with the magnetic measurements and meteorological observations. Tragically, he became ill in the latter stages of the expedition and died. This wonderfully illustrated book is the first publication of his diary. In Norwegian, no English translation.
