Ristvedts (1873-1955) served as First Engineer on Roald Amundsen’s Northwest Passage expedition, aboard the 45-ton fishing vessel Gjøa, as well as meteorologist, blacksmith, and dog handler. In 1904, together with Amundsen, he proved that the Magnetic North Pole moved and in 1905 reached the expedition’s furthest north. This wonderfully illustrated book is the first publication of his diary. In Norwegian, no English translation.
