By Endurance We Conquer: Shackleton and His Men

Riffenburgh’s booklet, tells the story of Ernest Shackleton's ill-fated Imperial Trans Antarctic Expedition, 1914-16, in the ‘Endurance’. Ilustrated with Frank Hurley’s poignant images which include crew life, the entrapment of the ‘Endurance’ in the pack ice of the Weddell Sea, the journey to Elephant Island, the launch of the ‘James Caird’ on its voyage to South Georgia, and the party rescued by the Chilean Navy vessel ‘Yelcho’. This was published to coincide with the centenary Service of Thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey on 21 May, 2016 to commemorate the courage and endurance of Shackleton and his men.
