British climber Stewart’s story is a remarkable account of a lifelong goal crushed in spectacular fashion two years running by the two worst disasters in Everest’s history. Throughout it all he displays a sense of humility and compassion sharing a heartfelt and emotional twenty year journey. From the streets of northern England through to the valleys and high mountains of Nepal, Stewart shared his story with thousands of followers on social media, winning over the hearts and minds of many. A ground swell of support sent Ellis to achieve his dream, not once but twice. Nobody could have anticipated the events that would follow. Events that would define the author in ways he couldn't possibly have imagined.
His first trip materialized in 2014 when he was a member of Tim Mosedale’s expedition to the south side. The expedition was cut short by a tragic avalanche which killed 16 Sherpas in the Khumbu Icefall. Stewart persevered and returned to the mountain in 2015. Unfortunately, this second attempt was cut short by the tragic earthquake which hit the Everest region killing at least 19 people on expeditions. Stewart, who was in the Icefall at the time, was lucky to survive.
