This is a unique compilation of newspaper and magazine articles written about Nawang Gombu through various phases of his climbing career. This extensive collection consists of photocopies of the original articles, essentially a scrapbook of his career. Gombu, a nephew of Tenzing Norgay, had an amazing career with expeditions to Everest (youngest Sherpa to reach 26,000’ (1953), 1960, 1963, first to reach summit twice (1965), and 1982), Makalu (1954), Saser Kangri (1956), Nanda Devi (1957 and 3rd person to reach summit (1964)), and Cho Oyu (1959). This collection has been compiled by his daughter Rita who climbed Nanda Devi (1982) and was the first Indian woman to reach the South Col during the Indian Everest Expedition of 1984, eventually reaching the South Summit. Uncommon.
