Davis had an illustrious career in the Antarctic, serving on seven voyages from 1907 to 1930; particularly as Chief Officer “Nimrod” British Antarctic Expedition 1907-1909, Master “Aurora” Australasian Antarctic Expedition 1911-1914, and Commander “Ross Sea” Relief Expedition, 1916. This is Davis’ personal account of the Australasian Antarctic Expedition, the official account of which was Mawson’s ‘The Home of the Blizzard’. Davis provides the details of the voyages of the ship which were not included in Mawson’s work. This is the first reprint of the original scarce work. Rosove 87.A1.b, Spence 354.
