This special publication commemorates the 50th anniversary of the first ascent of K2. One third of the book is devoted to the early explorations of the Duke of Abruzzi’s expedition with Vittorio Sella (1909), the second third to the expeditions of Houston (1938, 1953) and Wiessner (1939), and the final chapter to the Italian first ascent in 1954.
