This famous image shows Sir Ernest Shackleton and a portion of the crew of his Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition launching their lifeboat James Caird from Elephant Island. Their journey to South Georgia was a marvelous feat of open ocean navigation.
Much has been written on the ‘Endurance’ and this epic story of survival. Frank Hurley, the expedition photographer, took a great number of wonderful images, many of which survived the sinking and terrible ordeal endured by the crew. We are pleased to offer a terrific series of 12 different posters.
