Dr. Ken Kamler, an Everest veteran of six seasons, returned to Everest in 1996 as a member of Todd Burleson’s Alpine Ascents International team. Following the deadly storm he descended from his position at camp three to camp two in order to set up a field hospital to treat both Makalu Gau and Beck Weathers as they descended with their terrible injuries. Kamler presents an entertaining and enjoyable physicians view of high-altitude climbing, a perspective not often seen.
