Hillary’s autobiography includes not only his early climbs but also after climbing Everest and crossing Antarctica. This is a thoughtful and honest reappraisal of a life spent pushing the human ability to its limits and relishing the challenges thrown down by the elements. This first UK hardcover edition contains the copyright page error which states “All of the characters in this book are fictitious, and any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental.” This error appears only in this UK hardcover edition and at least some of these copies were withdrawn once this error was discovered. This is the preferred edition of this book.
