Michael Groom was the fourth person to summit the four highest peaks without supplemental oxygen. His autobiography describes his many expeditions - from the first Australian ascent of Kangchenjunga, and the devastating loss of all of his toes, to his painful recovery and comeback to climb Cho Oyu, Everest, Makalu, K2, and Lhotse. Groom was one of two assistant guides on Rob Hall’s Adventure Consultants Everest team in 1996 and one of only two summitters to survive from that team. He presents his views of the tragic events and his assistance to Beck Weathers. This first edition hardcover has more color photos than the softcover. Out of print in hardcover. A great read!
